Independence

Benchmark.Pulse is not affiliated with or endorsed by Ofsted or the Department for Education. Some of our questions use the same wording as their published surveys, so that a school can compare its results with the national figures. Answers to our surveys go to the school that ran them, never to Ofsted or the DfE.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no tracking cookies and loads nothing from other websites: no analytics, no advertising, no embedded videos or fonts from elsewhere. That is why there is no cookie banner. The website privacy notice has the detail.

Data protection

For schools, After Hours Education Ltd is a data processor: the school decides what to ask and owns the answers. The data protection pack has the data processing agreement, sub-processors, security overview, retention schedule and a pre-filled DPIA. How anonymity works shows the rules that protect people who answer.

Where the national figures come from

Every national figure on this site and in our reports comes from a survey published by Ofsted or the DfE. Each figure is taken from the published data, and shown with its source, period and population.

Accessibility statement

We aim for this website and every survey to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Surveys also offer read aloud, larger text and a buff paper background, and 4 parent surveys can be shown in 10 languages.

What we have tested

Every public page has been checked with a keyboard alone, for a visible focus outline, at 375 pixels wide and at 200% zoom with no sideways scrolling, with reduced motion switched on, and for text contrast of at least 4.5 to 1. Every chart has a table or a sentence that says the same thing.

Known limits

  • We have not yet completed a full test with screen readers.
  • On a phone, the sample briefing slides scroll sideways so that each slide stays readable.
  • The picture of the report on the home page is hidden from screen readers; the sample report itself is fully readable.
